When cleaning quartz, you should use only warm, soapy water and a soft cloth, avoiding harsh cleaning products and scouring pads. This is a major advantage because quartz floor tiles are easy and clean to keep clean.

Another plus point is that quartz is the only stone which doesn’t require any maintenance at all, so no yearly sealing or anything else added in. This is because quartz is non-porous, so it doesn’t absorb water. Of course, in terms of floor tiles, this is a con because it may become slippery.

On the down side? Probably the huge choice of colours, because whilst this is a great thing, it can also lead you to make a mistake. You need to go with a colour which is going to ‘go’ with everything else and also something which is going to go with the future redecorations you make.

Marble Pros and Cons

Now we have marble, one of the most opulent stones around. Marble floor tiles look amazing, and they are all unique, with no one tile ever being the same as another, thanks to the iconic veining. You can choose from countless colours and shades within them, so you don’t just have to stick to black and white, and you can be sure of a long-lasting result, if you look after it properly.

The downside is what we have just mentioned – marble doesn’t look after itself, and it does require yearly sealing to keep it in top condition. This is because marble is a porous stone, so you need to make sure that you carry this out. Of course, this means that marble is porous, so it absorbs water, and that is a plus point for floor tiles, because they won’t stay wet and slippery for very long at all.
